Annual Print Commission
What a wonderful thing to gamble on
Each year the Print Council commissions a group of selected artists to create an edition of prints for our Annual Print Commission Program.
An independent arts professional judges each artist’s portfolio of work and selects a final print to be commissioned from each. The artists then produce a limited edition of between 30-40 prints in their chosen medium. Paper for each edition is supplied by the Print Commission sponsor, Canson Australia.
Subscribers commit to purchase a print in the year prior to each commissioning. When all artists have completed their series, the prints are made available to PCA members, who then select which print or prints they would like from that year’s collection.
An affordable, mail order, print subscription program
Over 400 individual collectors, and many public museums, schools and galleries subscribe to the program. This enables them to select new commissioned prints each year and develop their personal and public collections, which are very likely to increase in value over time.
An opportunity for artists
The PCA Print Commission provides a major promotional and professional development opportunity for the selected artists.
All prints become part of significant public and private collections throughout the country. All prints enter the PCA print archive collection, which was commenced in 1967 and the Canson Australia Corporate Collection commenced in 1990.
All artists’ prints are featured in IMPRINT magazine in September each year.
Application forms inviting artists to submit slides and be part of the annual commissioning program are distributed nationally in December – don’t miss out!
